A Barrow school has achieved a historic win at the Cumbria in Bloom awards after it was awarded full marks for Best Overall School Garden for the 12th year running.
Dane Ghyll Primary and Nursery School once again showed just how gardening is at the heart of its curriculum and how it makes horticulture a sustainable part of learning.
Three Year 6 children attended the awards at Kendal Town Hall on Tuesday (October 15) with head gardener Louise Postlethwaite and Katy Costa.
They then went on to celebrate at McDonald's in the town centre.

After spending the summer visiting a variety of gardens and communities, Cumbria in Bloom acknowledged the efforts of individuals and groups with ceremonies also in Whitehaven and Carlisle.
These events mark the third year the organisation held multiple smaller events which they believe allows more volunteers to get the chance to receive their awards.

The 2024 awards events were held at The Beacon, Whitehaven, on October 14, Kendal Town Hall on October 15, and Cumbria Wildlife Trust's Gosling Syke at Houghton, Carlisle, on October 16.
In 2019, a plaque was erected at Dane Ghyll School to mark the wins that occurred every consecutive year since the awards were introduced to schools in 2012.
Since then the school has continued its success at the Cumbria in Bloom awards.
Headteacher Pete Mills said: "Dane Ghyll Primary and Nursery School children and their Head Gardener Mrs Postlethwaite attended the Cumbria in Bloom awards at Kendal Town Hall yesterday.
"They were delighted to win the best School garden overall in the whole of Cumbria and also a gold award in the school gardening and environmental awards.
"The judges awarded the school a full 100 marks, their comments say this is frowned upon by our superiors but we feel Dane Ghyll deserve this because the school have stayed in the competition unstintingly, always taking comments on board and maintaining a high standard of horticulture, well being and knowledge. Three cheers to the whole school.
"The continued achievement is due to the dedication of Mrs P and the understanding of how gardens can grow and develop and be built upon. We are continually evolving and improving and growing alongside the garden."
