MORE than 500 animals have been rehomed in just one day.
'Give A Hen A Home', based in the north west, organised the successful day in Ulverston to continue their mission to rescue hens from commercial farms and 'offer them a second chance at life'.
Despite technical issues on the day and a last minute change of venue, the not-for-profit organisation shared that 503 hens had found new homes.
A spokesperson said: "They say it takes a village, and today, that is what happened.
"When lots of things out of our control conspired against us, people helped us and each other, navigated the last minute location changes, and overcame the problem with the out of order telephone number.
"Just a group of lovely people being understanding and coming together for the love of these hens."
