A number of cats, desperate for love, are currently in the care of Animal Rescue Cumbria while they wait for a caring family.

Animal Rescue Cumbria and The Wainwright Shelter take in, rehabilitate and rehome 350 cats and dogs every year. Once their cats are ready to find a new family, they can be advertised for adoption.

Meet the lovely felines currently looking for their forever homes…

AGATHA and WANDA have had a ‘very tough’ start in life and were abandoned at the shelter.

(Image: Animal Rescue Cumbria) The girls are estimated to be around eight months old and were left with Animal Rescue Cumbria out of hours.

“Unfortunately, for this reason we don’t have any history on them,” the charity said.

Agatha is black with a white bib, while Wanda is a mix of tabby and white.

While they were initially ‘very reserved’, the girls have started to come out of their shells as they have settled and gotten to know the team better.

Animal Rescue Cumbria said: “They will need a quiet, understanding home, without young children while they settle and get to know you.”

The girls could potentially be rehomed individually, and would benefit from living with another, confident cat in the home.

ZIGGY, the Norwegian Forest Cat is nine years and six months old.

(Image: Animal Rescue Cumbria) He is described as a ‘very affectionate’ boy who loves to be brushed and fussed and would make a great companion.

This ‘handsome’ cat is looking for a special home where he will get the pampering he needs.

Animal Rescue Cumbria said: “He would ideally like his new family to have experience with long haired breeds as his coat does need daily maintenance.”

Ziggy needs to be the only pet in the home, but he would be happy to live with older children.

He enjoys going outside and would like to find a rural home away from busy roads where he can explore safely once he’s settled in.

RIZZO is a black and white female, who is estimated to be around a year old.

(Image: Animal Rescue Cumbria) She is described as a ‘very sweet and affectionate’ cat who is looking for a forever family.

This ‘gentle’ girl would like to be a house cat but would love to have a secure outside space to explore.

Rizzo has previously lived with other cats and could live with others in her new home.

She could live with children but would prefer a home with no dogs.

TOULOUSE is a little black kitten.

This ‘very sweet girl’ is only eight weeks old and can’t wait to go to a loving family.

She would love her new family to be around a lot of the time to help her settle in and could live with other animals and children.

Toulouse could be a housecat or could be introduced to an outdoor access, away from busy roads.

The charity also has a number of barn cats they are currently caring for.

(Image: Animal Rescue Cumbria) Estimated to be between one and three years old, these outdoor cats are looking for a home in a barn or stable.

They would like to be able to spend their time exploring the countryside.

Animal Rescue Cumbria said: “In exchange for food and shelter they will keep your rodent population down as they will make great mousers.

“All cats have been chipped, neutered and blood tested.”

They can go in pairs or individually and are able to live with other cats and animals.
