A HOTEL in Barrow will host its first festive weekend offering more than 20 stalls to explore.

The Dunes Hotel announced that the weekend would take place on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 November.

Along with the stalls, Santa's Elves will be helping children write their letters to Father Christmas and help prepare food for the reindeers before meeting him in his magical grotto.

The weekend will also see the launch of The Dune Hotel's Choir Competition. Local schools will have the chance to win Junior Choir of the Year. It is open from Year One to Year Six pupils. The winning group will receive a £100 prize and an invite to perform at the Coronation Hall as part of its 'Carols at the Coro' showcase in December.

An extensive line-up of entertainment is planned across the weekend, with music from saxophonist Emma Howarth, South Lakes Rocks, Harrison Holmes and South Musical Theatre Company.

Visitors can enjoy wreath making with Efflorescence, bracelet making with Beadology, readings from Angel Card Reading and a hair makeover by Mermain Hair.

Entry is free between 11am to 4pm with the daily schedule of events available on The Dune's website.

Schools applying for the Choir Competition should contact Tina on 07522 828158.
