A REGISTERED sex offender has been sentenced after he failed for two months to notify police of a change in his circumstances.

Daniel Newman pleaded guilty at the first opportunity on June 19 to four counts of failing to comply with the notification requirements of the sex offenders register.

The 32-year-old was sentenced at The Sessions House at Preston Crown Court on October 10.

Court records show Newman failed to notify the police of his new home address in Barrow and of a household in Barrow where he resided with a child for more than a 12 hour period between April 18, 2024 and June 18, 2024.

The charges also show between the same period that the defendant failed to notify the police of an address in Barrow where he spent seven or more nights within a 12-month period and that he also failed to inform his offender manager of an online TikTok username.

Her Honour Judge Sarah O’Brien sentenced Newman, of Redgrave Rise, Winstanley, Wigan, to an eight-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months.

As part of the order, she required Newman to complete 100 hours of unpaid work, 10 rehabilitation requirement days and 30 programme days within the direction of the probation service.

He was also ordered to pay court costs of £10 per week for the next 15 weeks.
