Artwork that had been created by a mysterious painter in Ulverston has been graffitied over.
The painting of the character Officer Dibble from the cartoon Top Cat has been on the door of the building for several years after it was vacated by the police in 2015.
The face of the character was discovered on Tuesday (October 8) to have been covered by red spray paint in a graffiti tag showing the culprit's signature.

Multi-million-pound plans were approved in December 2023 to regenerate the former police station on Neville Street into homes, offices and a restaurant with ’boutique’ accommodation in old jail cells.
The proposals for the building, which includes its old courthouse, were put forward by Building Design Northern (BDN).
The superintendent’s quarters, which were demolished prior to BDN’s purchase of the site, will house serviced accommodation with each apartment planned to have its own en-suite and kitchenette space.
The courthouse will see a new restaurant pavilion with a surrounding courtyard of former garages converted into an independent commercial space that is expected to attract a range of retail businesses.
Three one and two-bedroom dwellings will replace former MOT garages and will be centred around a communal amenity space with a large central green space.
