LORD Walney has rejected claims he is no longer an independent advisor to the Government on political violence and disruption.
The Byline Times published an article on October 8 initially reporting that John Woodcock, the former Barrow MP, was no longer in post.
The publication has since amended their story after Lord Walney defended his position on X, formerly Twitter.
It’s important to get your news from credible sources. I’m looking forward to giving evidence tomorrow to the police and crime committee of the London Assembly in my ongoing role as the government’s independent adviser on political violence and disruption.

Mr Woodcock wrote: "It's important to get your news from credible sources. I'm looking forward to giving evidence tomorrow to the police and crime committee of the London Assembly in my ongoing role as the government's independent adviser on political violence and disruption."
The crossbench peer and ex-Barrow MP handed a report into political violence and disruption in May to the Government.
The Sunak government at the time responded to the report with an open letter, promising that it would look at the thresholds for imposing 'conditions on protests' in line with his recommendations.
The letter criticised 'vile displays of antisemitism on our streets and aggressive disruption on the part of some protestors.'
Lord Walney has since been criticised by figures such as Labour MP Diane Abbott for 'demonising' Palestinian protesters.
