A heritage sign has gone missing while work on a huge road improvement scheme takes place.
It has gone missing from Grizebeck as contractors work on a multi-million-pound road scheme to improve the A595.
Work on the Grizebeck scheme, a £23.3 million project to create a new single carriageway road between Chapels and Grizebeck village, started last month and is being led by Story Contracting.
The historic sign, which was repainted last year, is said to have gone missing from the village between Monday, September 30 and Tuesday October 1.
Cumbria Police said the ‘suspected theft’ of the road sign was reported on October 4.
