The council is encouraging people to have their say on a new 20 MPH speed limit proposal.
Over 2000 residents have shared their views on a community-backed scheme for speed restrictions to be put in place.
The 28 areas put forward by local Parish and Town Councils call for slower speed limits to make roads safer in their communities.
The lower speed limits will only be introduced if community support is determined through the consultation.
Westmorland and Furness council said it is important residents take part in giving feedback by Friday 18 October 2024 at 5pm.
Cllr Peter Thornton, Westmorland and Furness Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Assets said: “We are really pleased to see so many residents engaging with the consultation. Slower speed limits have the potential to transform our communities, making them safer and more pleasant places to live, work, and travel through.
“This is your opportunity to shape the future of road safety in your community, and your feedback is invaluable in ensuring that these initiatives truly reflect local needs and priorities.”
Those who wish to take part can do so online or by paper copies available from a number of libraries.
Drop in events are being held across various venues for residents to attend and ask questions.
