A 65-year-old woman has lost her license after she was caught drink driving whilst nearly twice over the legal limit.
Julie Ann Gulley, of Market Street, Flookburgh, was driving her Hyundai Bayon Premium vehicle along Holme Lane in Allithwaite when she was stopped by road traffic officers.
South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court heard she was asked to conduct a roadside breathalyser test as the police had reason to believe the woman had been driving illegally.
Court records show the defendant was arrested after providing a positive sample.
The lowest reading was 66 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Gulley pleaded guilty to a single offence of drink driving at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on October 3.
Presiding magistrates fined the woman £364 for the offence and disqualified her from driving for a period of 18 months.
She was offered the opportunity to complete a drink driving course which would reduce the ban by 18 weeks.
Gulley was also ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a £146 surcharge.
