A MAN from Barrow has been jailed for burglary committed in Barrow in April 2024.
Stephen Anderson, 40, of River Walk, Barrow was sentenced to two years and six months in jail yesterday (30 September) at Preston Crown Court for burglary.
He was also given a 10-year restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim in any shape or form.
The court heard that on 24 April 2024, police received a call from Anderson’s ex-partner to say he had broken into her property earlier in the evening and smashed a window and mirror within the house.
He had also rummaged through her belongings and left her a hand-written letter despite having previous bail conditions not to contact her or enter her property.
Anderson was arrested on 25 April.
CSI attended the scene and recovered footwear impressions matching the shoes seized from Anderson when he was arrested.
They also found Anderson’s fingerprints on the envelope of the letter.
Detective Constable Alex Brown, Barrow CID, said: “I am pleased with the sentencing handed out yesterday and hope it can provide the victim with some reassurance and peace of mind.
“Burglary offences will not be tolerated and those that engage in these activities will face a police investigation and prosecution.
“We continue to target burglars with Operation Themis, being burgled can be incredibly traumatic and we are committed to working with communities to bring offenders to justice.
“You can report suspicious persons or activity to police via our online reporting form, live chat or 101 or if a crime is occurring on 999.”
Operation Themis is Cumbria Constabulary’s response to and focus on burglaries.
