Vicky Niblo, the newly appointed headteacher of Moorfield Learning Centre, said: "We were absolutely bowled over by the support we received for the event from parents, friends, relatives and community members.

"The morning was really well attended and we were delighted to raise so much money for such a worthwhile cause.

"Of course, this was all made possible by the hard work and commitment of our learners and staff, who worked together to bake, make jam, decorate and help out on the day.

"My personal thanks go to everybody involved."

Moorfield Learning Centre was established in 2010 and is made up of three sites: the main school site on Moorfield Street, the secondary alternative provision hub on Rawlinson Street, and the primary alternative provision hub on Schneider Road.

The school said that the coffee morning was a true testament to its commitment to community engagement and its learners' dedication to making a positive impact.

It added that events like the Macmillan Coffee Morning serve as a reminder of the power of community collaboration and the positive impact that can be achieved when a school and its stakeholders work together towards a common goal.
