A FENMAN Close resident has said that she 'nearly fell twice' because of the way the lights were installed by her housing association after previous complaints.

The estate, in Barrow, was covered by The Mail in 2023 after elderly and vulnerable residents complained about the lights not being fixed for months. Tracey Croasdell said that residents were 'ignored and left to fall.'

Housing association Accent apologised for the lights and the paving at the time, and said that all the necessary repairs were completed by November 27 last year.

Now, Ms Croasdell claimed that the workers had installed the lights in 'a stupid way' meaning that the residents only have front lighting.

"Now the darkness is coming in its yet again putting residents at risk," she said.

"Yesterday I nearly fell twice - I have had enough of not getting listened to."

Ms Croasdell also claimed that one of her neighbours is 'fearing for her life due to the lighting going in her window' as she has had seizures. She called the situation 'absolutely disgraceful' and claimed that the residents were 'unable to sleep' due to the situation at Fenman Close.

An Accent Housing spokesperson said: "Customer safety and wellbeing is our top priority. Our team have therefore arranged a visit to Fenman Close, so we can investigate our customers’ concerns.

"Together with customers, our Housing Team and Maintenance Surveyor will work together to find a solution."

Last year, Accent admitted that lights installed in September 2023 'failed again' in mid-October, before all the necessary repairs were carried out and completed in November.

Ms Croasdell previously told The Mail that the estate also had an issue with uneven paving, which she claimed was first reported on in 2021 and that an elderly man had taken a fall because of it.

In response, Accent said that they had repaired the paving.
