A business in Barrow has a chance of picking up an award after only opening its doors in August.

Last month, The Mail launched the 'Best Beauty Salon 2024' award to promote the people who are bringing a dash of glamour to Furness.

Our readers were invited to nominate the businesses they felt were deserving of the accolade with 10 finalists selected from those results.

Voting is now taking place for two weeks up until Saturday, October 12 and you can make sure your voice is heard by picking up a copy of The Mail before the deadline.

To coincide with the voting window, The Mail will be running a series of features on each of the businesses.

We now head to Barrow for the first time in the competition where Natasha Reed has set up NJ Beauty Retreat on Scott Street.

She said: "It means the absolute world to me to be in the top 10 - I have worked so hard over the years to build a very loyal client base, and this makes all the long days and hard work worthwhile.

"Being in the top 10 is the cherry on top of a very exciting and hard-working year.

"I am so lucky to be able to work in an industry that I am so passionate about and is primarily made up of strong women who, during and after the pandemic, showed how supportive our industry is."

Natasha has been involved in the beauty industry for 12 years, though NJ Beauty Retreat has only been greeting customers for little over a month.

"With some help from family and friends, we were able to renovate the building into a calm retreat that I can call my own," she added.

"We are currently a small team made up of myself, the owner and beauty therapist, Danielle, our aesthetic nurse, Abby, our makeup artist, Libby, our nail tech, and Karen, an advanced beauty therapist.

"I want to make sure my salon carries on spreading support throughout all the local salons and other industry professionals."
