A new Explorer Scout unit is set to launch in Barrow-in-Furness.

The unit aims to provide more teenagers with opportunities to gain skills for life through adventure and unique experiences.

The unit is actively seeking new members aged between 14 to 17.

Interested teens are invited to Scout HQ on Park Drive on October 3, from 7.30pm to 8.30pm, to participate in activities and learn more about the scouting community.

Explorer Scouts offer a wide range of experiences, from engaging in over 250 activities to developing life skills like leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork.

Scouting has a proven track record of helping young people broaden their horizons.

Recent surveys indicated that 90 per cent of parents believed their children would benefit from acquiring life skills, while 88 per cent of scouts reported trying activities they had never experienced before joining.

The new unit is also appealing for adult volunteers to help facilitate these opportunities.

Whether individuals possess specific skills, like knot tying or storytelling, or simply have a passion for nurturing young talent, their support would be invaluable.

With a wealth of opportunities lined up for the remainder of 2024 and beyond, prospective volunteers are encouraged to register their interest at the New Barrow Explorer Scout Unit.
