Knife wielding Barrow man brandished knife and threatened two males

A MAN in his early twenties has been jailed for brandishing a knife on two male friends in a back alley in Barrow town centre.

Celton Thompson, of Bridgegate Avenue in Barrow, put the blade to the neck of one of the men and demanded items from him after he accused the friends of ‘perving’ on his girlfriend. Preston Crown Court heard.

Barrow to Manchester drug group jailed for total of 50 years

NINE people involved in a county lines drug operation that ran from Barrow to Manchester have been jailed for a total of 50 years.

The final members of the group who supplied heroin and cocaine were sentenced at Preston Crown Court on Tuesday, September 24.

Barrow man Darren Richmond admits sending images of his genitals

BARROW man has admitted sending images of his genitals to a child decoy.

Darren Richmond, of Devon Street, pleaded guilty to four counts of attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child when he appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

Man assaulted estranged wife outside Ulverston Victoria High School

A MAN assaulted his estranged wife outside Ulverston Victoria High School following an argument, a court heard.

Andrew Brew, of King Street, Ulverston, bent the victim’s finger back as he attempted to grab her mobile phone out of her hand while she was on the phone waiting in her car, South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court heard.

Barrow man with knife in public escapes jail due to being ‘vulnerable’

A MAN caught with a knife in Barrow has been handed a suspended sentence after magistrates deemed he was a ‘vulnerable’ individual.

Andrew Nelson, of Parker Street, Barrow, was stopped by officers on his residential street on February 9 this year where he was found to be in possession of a Stanley knife, South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court heard.

Notorious Barrow thief stole Whimzees dog treats from Pets at Home

A CRIMINAL with a track record of shoplifting has escaped being sent to prison after he was caught stealing dog treats and other items from shops across Barrow.

Matthew Holland, of Gradwell Court, Barrow, was sentenced at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on September 25 after pleading guilty to four ‘theft from a shop’ charges.

Pensioner failed breath test after driving to Kendal Police Station

A PENSIONER drove to a police station and was arrested after failing a drink drink test.

A court heard how officers were in the vicinity of Asda in Kendal when they were alerted to a woman – Linda Lazonby, 71, - suspected of being drunk and about to get behind the wheel.

Dalton driver pulled over with drug in his system

A DRIVER was pulled over and found to have a controlled drug in his system. 

Luke Comber, 28, of Mount Pleasant in Dalton, admitted driving a VW Golf on the A6 slip road at Levens with 3.5ug/L of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol in his blood, exceeding the specified limit on March 10.

Barrow man remanded into custody following blackmail charge

A MAN from Barrow has been remanded into custody after being charged by detectives following his arrest yesterday (September 26).

Brandon Woolveridge, of Melbourne Street, was charged with blackmail following an investigation into the exploitation of owners of missing pets.

Jordan Trengove handed ban after failing to provide

A driver has been handed a 17-month ban after using a vehicle not covered by his licence and failing to provide a blood specimen. 

Jordan Trengove, 24, of Longway, Barrow, drove a VW Golf on Walney Promenade on April 28  otherwise than in accordance with a licence authorising him to drive a car of that class.

Barrow man Alan Chapman assaulted two victims

BARROW man has been ordered to pay compensation to two men after assaulting them.

Alan Chapman, of Dumfries Street, pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm when he appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court.
