Mountain rescuers were faced with a massive task after they were called to search for a missing runner who had planned to run the equivalent of a marathon in the Lake District.
A concerned family member contacted Cumbria police after they had expected them home by early evening.
The runner was last heard from at 8:30am on Saturday (September 21) at the summit of Scafell Pike and had planned to run for 26 miles.

No details of the routes were given however which meant a huge search area for volunteers.
Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) alongside Duddon and Furness MRT began the mammoth search at 9:20pm utilising search dogs.
Speaking on the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) Facebook page, a spokesperson said: "It became very important to locate the runner’s car to give further clues.
"Several local team members were tasked to search campsites and car parks in Wasdale and Eskdale to locate the car, with a ‘find’ being made at Wasdale Head.
"As planning and initial search routes were being mapped, it was with some relief that Cumbria Police located the runner at a campsite at Wasdale Head."
It turned out that a miscommunication between family members had resulted in their misplaced concerns.
The runner had intended to also camp in the valley for a second night and return home the following day.
A spokesperson added: "All teams were stood down and were happy to get a relatively swift positive outcome to what could have been a very challenging search over vast areas, with very little information to plan from.
"A good reminder to tell someone of your route and intended return times in writing, especially if walking or running alone.
"Thanks to all MR teams and Cumbria Police for their support and teamwork."
The rescue ended at 12.29am and lasted three hours and nine minutes.
Conditions were described as dry and clear.
