Two Barrow Raiders players are 'letting go of their mullets' for charity this weekend.

Charlie Emslie and Brett Carter will be getting their hair cut after Raiders' fixture against Widnes Vikings on Sunday, September 29.

They are doing this to support the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs for children and young people up to the age of 24 who are going through cancer treatment or other conditions such as Alopecia.

Charlie said: "We thought that we would like to donate our hair to the great charity that is the Little Princess Trust.

"We have also decided to split the funding with St Mary’s Hospice as the work they do is incredible and I’m sure a lot of people will have experienced their work before."

The Trust has grown to be one of the biggest funders of research into childhood cancer across the UK.

One real hair wig costs £700 on average, with Charlie and Brett setting themselves a £3000 target to help a number of people going through the ordeal.

"To make it a little more exciting, if we meet this target before the end of the game we will do some waxing with the time we have left after the haircut," Charlie added.

"We’d like to encourage any cash donations to come to the game and there will be a bucket going around asking for donations.

"Any donations no matter how little or large are greatly appreciated and thank you in advance."

The big haircut will take place at the Barrow Raiders MKM Marquee following the game.

At the time of writing, Charlie and Brett were approaching the £2,000 mark but were still shy of that end target, meaning they will be hoping that fans at the match will be reaching deep into their pockets this weekend.
