A man from Walney was arrested after a person was taken to hospital with a fractured skull.

Cumbria Police were called to Eamont Close on Walney at 9.04pm on September 18 to a report of a man being assaulted.

Police arrested a man in his 40s from Walney on suspicion of GBH and criminal damage.

The man had allegedly caused damage to two cars and a window in addition to the assault.

The victim reported he had been hit with a hammer and was taken to hospital where a scan showed a fracture of the skull, said police.

A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: "The incident remains under investigation and anyone who witnessed what occurred and is yet to come forward is urged to contact police.

The man has been bailed pending further police inquiries.
