A school is celebrating after it was rated as 'outstanding' in all areas by inspectors.
George Romney School on Cobden Street, Dalton, was visited by Ofsted inspectors on July 9 and received the highest possible rating for quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.
The school was rated 'good' in its last inspection in December 2019.

Inspectors complimented the school for its ‘carefully crafted programme’ of supporting children’s well-being and mental health.
Despite it being a busy end-of-term week with the school's end production of ‘Wizard of Oz’, headteacher David Reddy said children and staff still managed to find time to talk to the inspectors to demonstrate how fantastic their school is and how proud they are of everything they achieve there.
He said: "I am so pleased and so proud of our children, our staff and our families who have all contributed to our school being judged as ‘outstanding'.
"We have a fantastic team here in school who pour so much time, thought and dedication into our children - I think to have this recognised by the inspectors is amazing.
"Our vision, our values and our passion for real-life learning through a unique curriculum has not wavered for many years. This has been clearly seen and celebrated.
"I am utterly delighted that when the inspectors came to visit our school they really enjoyed talking to our children and finding out about daily life and learning in our school - directly from them.
"The children were a real credit to themselves, the staff and their families – they sold our school to the inspectors – not us."
The school’s motto is ‘A Happy Place to Learn’ which was reflected by inspectors in the opening lines of the report - ‘Pupils flourish in this vibrant and harmonious school community.
"They benefit from an exceptional curriculum that is delivered by deeply committed and expert staff. Pupils are happy to be in school and delight in all it has to offer," it said.
The report goes on to compliment the school for its ‘carefully crafted programme’ of support for children’s well-being and mental health and is complimentary about the ‘wide array of opportunities to nurture their talents and interests.’
Mr Reddy added: "We firmly believe in creating ‘magic moments’ for the children as we know these experiences lead to learning that they remember, relate to and build on now and in their future.’
"To be told that we prepare children ‘exceedingly well’ for their next stage of education is a confirmation that time invested in working collaboratively with other schools in our area such as Dowdales and our colleagues in other Furness Primary Collaborative schools is the right way to work in today’s current education climate.
"I am sure parents and families will enjoy reading in full about the many ways our school has been recognised as ‘outstanding’."
