A primary school in Dalton is celebrating an exceptional outcome of their latest Ofsted inspection.
George Romney Junior School has been awarded an outstanding result.
The school on Cobden Street was found to be outstanding in all areas, including quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development plus leadership and management.
In the latest report, published Monday September 23, Ofsted said: “Pupils flourish in this vibrant and harmonious school community. They benefit from an exceptional curriculum that is delivered by deeply committed and expert staff.
“Pupils are happy to be in school and delight in all that it has to offer.”
Inspectors described pupils as ‘avid learners’ who try their utmost to reach the high standards of achievement set by the school.
As well as ‘exemplary’ behaviour, the report comments on the ‘excellent’ progress of pupils through an ‘ambitious’ curriculum.
The school is credited with having ‘great clarity’ concerning the most important knowledge pupils should be taught and a seamless flow of learning throughout Key Stage 2.
Headteacher, Mr David Reddy said: “I am so pleased and so proud of our children, our staff and our families who have all contributed to our school being judged as ‘outstanding!’
"We have a fantastic team here in school who pour so much time, thought and dedication into our children…I think to have this recognised by the inspectors is amazing!"
Inspectors found that any gaps in a pupil’s knowledge are addressed quickly and effectively.
Alongside a carefully crafted programme supporting pupils’ wider development, Ofsted was impressed by the wide array of opportunities available to nurture pupil’s talents and interests.
Mr Reddy said: "Our vision, our values and our passion for real-life learning through a unique curriculum has not wavered for many years. This has been clearly seen and celebrated. I am utterly delighted that when the inspectors came to visit our school, they really enjoyed talking to our children and finding out about daily life and learning in our school - directly from them. The children were a real credit to themselves, the staff and their families – they sold our school to the inspectors – not us!"
