MEMBERS of a charity supporting carers across the South Lakes have been allowed to fundraise for one day in McDonald's, Kendal.

Carer Support South Lakes have been invited to host a charity information and fundraising session in the restaurant to celebrate International Charity Day.

The team will be on hand to provide information about services provided by the local charity, and raise funds with collections boxes.

Carer Support South Lakes provides assistance to unpaid carers of any age in South Lakeland, identifying needs, promoting overall wellbeing and providing support throughout their caring journey. The charity’s vision is that every carer should be able to live well and enjoy life feeling supported and included.

Chief executive officer Debi Marsden said: “We are very grateful to McDonald’s restaurant in Kendal for inviting us to host an information session and fundraise for our charity.

“This is a great opportunity for us to tell people about the services we provide and help raise money to fund our charity.

“Many of the services we provide for unpaid Carers are delivered by Volunteers, and customers visiting the restaurant will be able to find out more about how they can get involved as well as the support we can provide if they are looking after a family member or friend.

“Volunteers also work behind the scenes, supporting staff and thus improving the quality of the service we provide. Without our Volunteers we could not provide the level of support to unpaid Carers that we do.”

McDonald’s business manager, Yasin Maje said: “We are happy to be able to support local charities with raising awareness of what is available in the local community, and excited to have Carer Support South Lakes along to celebrate the day with us.”
