A MOUNTAIN rescue team assisted a biker after she fell off and sustained an ankle injury.

The mountain biker had come off her bike on September 21 below Nettle Crag and just off the Walna Scar track on a 'warm but breezy late morning.'

Two vehicles were deployed and she was quickly located.

A spokesperson from Coniston Mountain Rescue Team said: "Two vehicles were deployed and she was quickly located. Once assessed, she was given pain relief whilst her ankle was stabilised and splinted.

"The lady was stretchered to our Land Rovers and driven to where she was staying. Her husband then took her to the local hospital."

Eight team members attended the incident, which took two hours and 20 minutes.
