A bakery in Barrow has earned the right to call itself as the best across Furness.

Last month The Mail launched the 'Best Bakery 2024' award, kickstarting a long process to find our readers' favourite spot for a bite to eat.

A list of 10 nominated finalists battled it out to win the plaudits with voting taking place for two weeks up until Sunday, September 14.

The Mail's 'Best Bakery 2024' award series pt.1:

With the team at The Mail painstakingly counting the hundreds of votes, we can now reveal that Grange Bakery on Ennerdale Drive in Barrow has been named the champion.

The overarching business has been running for a century with three other sites found in Grange-over-Sands, Ulverston and Flookburgh.

But it is the Barrow shop that has claimed the accolade, where Tracey Foster has been the manager for less than a year - though the award win has already proved that she has put her stamp on the business.

After hearing the news, Tracey shared just how shocked she was by the 'brilliant' success and she took the time to thank all those who have made it possible.

She added: "We at Grange Bakery are delighted to have won the best bakery competition - well done to our bakers for their award-winning freshly baked products.

"We would like to thank our dedicated customers for their votes as well.

The Mail's 'Best Bakery 2024' awards pt.2:

"Congratulations must go to the other bakeries for making it as a top 10 finalist.

"And a thank you to my staff for all their hard work - we look forward to continuing our service to all our customers."

Having joined the bakery just 18 months ago, Tracey has quickly climbed up the ranks to lead the Barrow site.

She will now be hoping that this is merely the first taste of success for the business, which she can now proudly boast is the best on the peninsula.
