Plans to convert a five-bedroom property in Barrow into a house of multiple occupancy (HMO) have been approved.

Westmorland and Furness Council has given the green light to plans from Ravi Kiran to convert a house on Church Street in Barrow into an eight bedroom HMO.

According to planning documents, the proposed HMO will consist of one bedroom, a kitchen and a lounge on the ground floor, three bedrooms on the first floor and four bedrooms on the second floor.

Plans submitted show all the bedrooms will have an ensuite bathroom apart from two bedrooms on the second floor which are next to a bathroom. The proposals also have a benched seating area outdoors as well as a bike storage area.

One objector raised concern over the ‘limited’ on street parking in the area and added: “There is no consideration as to the impact this will have on an already pressured area.”

Plans show there are eight cycle spaces proposed for the HMO.

The planning application was approved on September 17.
