A fundraiser has been set up to help raise money for a horse sanctuary in Cumbria.
The Friesian Experience near Cartmel is owned and run by the Alexander sisters who care for several animals and offer the chance for people to get up close to the gentle horses.
Located within the UNESCO-designated Lake District National Park, Greenbank Farm is a Grade II-listed property within 75 acres of land.
The farm has been in the Alexander family for four generations, having celebrated its 110th anniversary this year.
Since the five original Friesian horses moved onto the farm in 2006, Greenbank is now home to 14 Friesians, a white pony called Prince, and a miniature Shetland named Mr. J.B. who is affectionately known as Jubbers.
Tracey Alexander focuses on the horses and the sanctuary while her sister Tamara runs the family farm and holiday rental.
The current goal to raise £24,500 will allow the team to purchase a 2024 Polaris Ranger, a three-seat All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV).
With all the latest features, the vehicle is a massive step up from the one-person quad bike the team currently uses.
As well as keeping the team protected from the harsh Cumbrian weather, the vehicle will make it easier and quicker to travel the many acres of land.
The ATV will be used for delivering feed to the pastures, checking on the herd's welfare and carrying out maintenance work on the farm, improving the team’s efficiency.
It will also increase visitor accessibility so those who might find it difficult to climb the hills can still take part in activities on the farm.
The fundraiser is being run by The Friends of Greenbank Farm, a collection of people across the globe who believe in the aims of The Friesian Experience.
One of the founders of the Go Fund Me Page, Jamie Richardson said: “The group wants to support the hard-working team as they provide the best care for the horses, a welcoming and meaningful experience for visitors, and act as good stewards of the land, the farm, and its historic buildings.
“The Friesian Experience is a multi-faceted gem, unique in every way. Education and Wellness are at the heart of everything -both for the Friesian horses in sanctuary, and in the magical experiences they provide visitors.
“Not only is Tracey a generous, acknowledged expert on the Friesian breed, but she and Tamara are extremely ethical, positive, and open-hearted in their approach. They have exciting plans ahead, and it's rewarding to be among their growing legion of supporters.”
They have attracted thousands of supporters from all over the world via their social media posts.

Tamara said: “We have been lucky enough to receive support and guidance from people who believe in what it is we are aiming to achieve here - providing sanctuary to Friesian horses in our historic Grade II listed Lakeland farm, who in turn offer healing and life-changing experiences to visitors from around the world - both physically and virtually.”
