An 'iconic' race attracted over 200 competitors last week as they tested their speed around a Cumbrian landmark.
Organised by the Hoad Hill Harriers, the Monument 5k returned on Wednesday, September 11 and saw 245 people take on a route around the Sir John Barrow Monument.
This was preceded by a one-mile fun run involving 98 entrants with Ben Rixom and Imogen Moore - both of Leven Valley - finishing first and second respectively.

In the main event, the first 47 runners finished in under 20 minutes, proving that the unfavourable conditions were not enough to slow them down.
Four records were smashed on the day with winner Olly McKenna setting a time of 15 minutes and 27 seconds.
New records were also set by Mike Cubin in the over-55 men's category, Joanne McCleod in the over-55 women's category, and Sue Cordingley in the over 65 women's category.
Attention will now turn to the next big event, which will be the Hoad Hill Harriers' Christmas Pudding 10k on December 1.
