A FLOOD alert is in place for areas in Cumbria due to spring tides.
The UK government flood alert website has put out updates for possible flooding on the Coast at North Morecambe Bay.
Due to spring tides, higher than normal tides overnight may lead to flooding of roads and footpaths near the coast, the alert said.
The alert stated that no property flooding is expected.
The highest tide level is expected to be at the Coast at North Morecambe Bay with the Sandside and Canal Foot areas at particular risk.
Nearby low-lying locations may also be affected from Roosebeck to Carnforth including areas around Ulverston, Greenodd, Haverthwaite, Flookburgh, Grange-over-Sands, Levens, Milnthorpe, Sandside, Arnside and Silverdale between 10.30pm tonight (September 18( until 2.30am tomorrow (September 19).
The alert urges people to be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous.
Flood gates at Arnside promenade will remain closed throughout the high tide cycle until Sunday, September 22.
