The latest results of an assessment carried out by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to a dental practice in Barrow has been published.

Oxford Place Dental Practice at 31 Furness Park Road was found to have met all the required regulations.

The service, provided and run by Lakes Implants and Orthodontics Ltd, received a visit from the CQC on August 7.

On-site assessment found that the practice had met all the requirements for safety, effectiveness, care, responsiveness and leadership.

The inspectors checked that the practice had systems to manage risks, infection control procedures in line with published guidance as well as recruitment procedures reflecting current legislation in place.

The practice operates with two treatment rooms and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

The report said patients were treated with dignity and respect and their care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance.

At the time of the assessment, patients were able to access care, support and treatment when required.

The published report said: “There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.”

The dental team includes one dentist, two dental hygienists, four qualified dental nurses and a receptionist.

Inspectors were able to get feedback on the dental service from a total of 14 patients, who provided a positive view of the dental team, and the level of care provided.

Comments mentioned how ‘professional’ the practice is and referred to staff as ‘first class’.

One patient described staff as ‘always caring and thoughtful’ while another said they found staff ‘very knowledgeable, friendly, professional and extremely approachable.’

The CQC said patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale and had enough time during appointments without feeling rushed.

As well as being given clear information to help patients make an informed choice about their treatment, they were involved in decisions about their care.

Inspectors were told that patients feel supported in maintaining their oral health and were provided with appropriate information and resources.

The practice shared patient feedback with the team, which the CQC was told would be reviewed and action taken where suggestions had been made
