WESTMORLAND and Furness Council is asking people to share their thoughts on the current services available and ideas to improve the opportunities on offer.

Day Opportunities are services that can provide a break and support for all carers, including unpaid carers, ensuring they can continue to offer ongoing care.

These services help people’s health and well-being and provide the opportunity to take part in various interests and activities, meet with friends, develop relationships, and participate in work, education and recreation.

They are also important in supporting people with disabilities, people experiencing mental health problems and older people to maintain and develop new skills, prevent social isolation and support inclusion in the community.  Typically, these services currently run on weekdays, usually between the hours of 9am and 5pm.

An online questionnaire is available to people to complete until Monday 30 September.

The council is asking for feedback about what works well, such as travel-to-day services and suggestions for new activities.

The questionnaire is part of a larger project that gathers the views of service users, day opportunity providers, councillors, and other organisations within this sector.
