A COUPLE is set to open the doors of their new shop today offering 'affordable and nourishing' food.
Sangas is a new business in Barrow set up by Michael Russell and Gabriella Kiss-Russell.
Michael, who is from the Caribbean, has made use of his roots to name the shop which translates to 'sandwiches'.
The pair behind the catering business Knife and Sole in Broughton explained they needed a bigger kitchen to extend the business.
The shop on Roose Road came as a bonus so they decided to sell their own produce and manage to reach a bigger crowd.

Another factor for the shop opening is wanting to offer affordable and hearty meals to their customers.
The couple is aiming to appeal to the 'work crowd' and provide them with food that makes them feel nourished.
"They can come in and have a fresh takeaway that fills them up but also does not make them sluggish so they can carry on with their job," explained Gabriella.
They will be selling their own individual quiches, sausage rolls and deli-style sandwiches ranging from homemade corn beef to barbecue brisket and weekly specials.
They will also be selling homemade chutneys, pickles and confectionery.
Gabriella explained that the outside catering business will continue.
She said: "Our motto is that we are quite approachable, so we don't have any minimum numbers we cater for. We always understand that budget is really important so we try to cater for every crowd.
"We had a couple a few weeks ago who had a very limited budget but they wanted to have a date night at their home and we were really happy to help them as much as we are happy to do fine dining and weddings - we really just try and listen to our costumers and find the best package for them."
They will offer pop-up evenings, including Mexican tapas night at the General Burgoyne on September 21.
They are excited to open but 'full of all sorts of emotions' due to their busy summer.
"Obviously it is very new to us. We have been very fortunate. We only started Knife and Sole last April so it was a very quick year. We are going with the support we have and this is the next natural step," Gabriella said.
Sangas will be open from 10am until 2.30pm to start with.
