INITIAL plans have been lodged for the expansion of a holiday park in south Cumbria.
Bourne Leisure Ltd has requested a screening opinion from Westmorland and Furness Council for the proposed extension of Lakeland Leisure Park in Flookburgh to determine if an environmental impact assessment (EIA) is necessary.
According to documents submitted to the council the applicant is considering seeking planning permission for the stationing of static caravans/lodges, the installation of internal roads and the construction of bases for stationing static caravans.
The potential development site is located immediately east of the Haven Lakeland Leisure Park and is currently a golf course.
Documents submitted with the request for a screening opinion say there could be up to 50 holiday units added to the site.
If screening from the council identifies significant effects an environmental impact assessment is necessary.
