Barrow is set to get its very own Top Trumps game.

Artworks Art4all is a small team of volunteers that use art-based projects to raise awareness around mental health and well-being charities

The goal of Top Trumps is to win the most rounds by having the highest-scoring card in each round.

The Community Interest Company is inviting individuals, community groups, organisations, schools, colleges, guides, scouts and charities to join in.

Each card in the pack will feature a key building in Barrow and will have a range of categories, a photo, a fascinating fact and the name of the group who made it.

Former art teacher and a volunteer with Artworks Art4all Sharon Taitmsaid: "A few individuals have signed up to be allocated a card (at random) and we have already given out 47 to so many amazing groups.

"This is fantastic as we anticipated about 25 groups expressing an interest in joining.

"Randar Education based in Kendal has asked to join in as well as George Romney Junior School in Dalton.

"Every card will feature a heritage Barrow building. Each group or person has to go and photograph their building, research statistics and information and debate scores for the beauty, must see factor and a fascinating fact."

Once all the cards have been designed, they will be taken to be printed locally.

he cardsill then  be sold to raise money for Furness Carers Support, Young Carers and for ArArks A4All CIC to help it continue to run community art workshops and other events.Sharon added: "It’s a fun project that shows locals, and folk further away, just how many amazing buildings we have. It’s also a simple game that people can play face to face.

"Once the game is printed we intend to have a huge series of knockout competitions in a number of locations from in the pack."

  • The year the building was built

  • How much it cost to build

  • How high the building is

  • The average number of visitors who visit in a week.

  • The must-see factor out of 10 (10 being the highest)  - if you were visiting Barrow as a tourist for a weekend how important is it that you see this building? 

  • Beauty: out of 10 and also a great subject for debate.

  • A fascinating fact- what is the most bizarre, funny, shocking, sad, amazing fact about the building.
