The Westmorland and Lonsdale MP has raised more than £3,000 for unpaid carers in Kendal by running a half marathon.
Tim Farron took on the Great North Run in Newcastle on September 8 to raise money for Carer Support South Lakes which supports 1,350 unpaid carers in South Lakeland, with ages ranging from five to those in their 90s.
Mr Farron completed the half marathon in two hours and five minutes, a personal best.
He said: "It was a very wet Great North Run but it was fantastic that we were all cheered on by a wonderfully warm Tyneside crowd.
"I’m massively grateful to everyone who sponsored me – your donation will go a long way in supporting unpaid carers in our community."
There are 12,000 unpaid carers across Cumbria, many of whom have given up their income, education, employment prospects, or pension rights to care for a loved one.
