A MAN from Barrow has been put behind bars for breaching the terms of a restraining order.
Stephen Harrison, of Duncan Street, admitted at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court that he had without reasonable excuse, communicated, contacted or approached the complainant on September 5.
The court heard the restraining order was imposed on the 57-year-old by Liverpool Crown Court on November 18 2021.
Magistrates said the offence was so serious that only an immediate custodial sentence could be justified.
They added Harrison had previously shown a ‘flagrant disregard for court orders’ and that he demonstrated a history of ‘poor compliance’ with restraining orders.
As a result, they said they were left with no other option but to jail him for 12 weeks.
No order for costs or a surcharge was made due to the limited means of the defendant.
