A MILLOM man has been sentenced after he admitted drug driving while more than ten times over the limit.
Liam Mathie, of Palmers Lane, was stopped by officers on the A595 at Whicham Valley while driving his BMW on May 9 this year.
The 33-year-old was asked to conduct a DrugsWipe test which came back positive for Benzoylecgonine, the major metabolite of cocaine.
Court documents show the lowest reading provided to officers was 522 ug/L. The legal ‘zero tolerance’ limit is 50.
At South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on September 5, Mathie pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.
He was disqualified from driving for 16 months and fined £450.
Magistrates also ordered Mathie to pay £85 in court costs and a £180 surcharge.
