Your chance to back your favourite bakery in Furness comes to an end today.

The Mail has been searching for the best shop for sweet treats and baked goodies since August with the launch of the 'Best Bakery 2024' award.

The hotly contested competition officially began after our readers submitted nominations of the bakeries deserving of the recognition, with 10 finalists named from this list.

For a fortnight, the public has been voting for those 10 businesses by picking up copies of The Mail.

That window is finally drawing to a close, with votes only being accepted up until 11.59pm on Saturday, September 14.

The Mail's 'Best Bakery 2024' award series pt.1:

To make the process of choosing between the competitors slightly easier, The Mail has been running a series of special features highlighting each of the finalists.

The 10 establishments will discover who has been named as the first winner of the award on the week commencing Monday, September 23.

In the competition, we have met Janet Martin and Linda Miln, both of whom have been putting their families at the heart of their bakeries in Barrow.

Two shops ran by the same people are also competing against one another, with The Bakery's of Walney and Barrow both having a chance of winning the award.

Green's Pies was made famous by Dave Myers, but the Hairy Bikers also have a long relationship with Brian O'Loughlin at Thomas' Bakery too.

The Mail's 'Best Bakery 2024' awards pt.2:

Both Tracey Hilton and John McArthur have been at the helm of Grange Bakery and The Pie Shop in Dalton respectively for less than a year, and will be hoping they can taste success within 12 months of taking charge.

And Sam Halpin has been cooking up success at Deli.sh for 12 years, but will it be enough to beat Barrow stalwart McLeys?

Hurry and you might still be able to ensure your vote counts to crown the 'Best Bakery 2024' winner.
