The star of a new documentary celebrated his 70th birthday in Hollywood style as a trailer about his life debuted online.

Born and bred in the village of Kirkby-in-Furness, farmer Jack Pattinson stars alongside his wife Janice in a feature-length documentary following the everyday life of a Cumbrian couple on their smallholding.

Filmed over two years, ‘Pattinson’ is the latest production directed by Richard John Taylor, who has shot five films in the village.

The documentary is narrated by British television legend Rula Lenska, who appeared as Coronation Street’s Claudia Colby between 2009 and 2011.

Last Christmas Mr Pattinson travelled to London to meet Mr Taylor and Ms Lenska where a preview of the documentary was screened to a private audience at the Covent Garden Hotel.

Mr Taylor said: “It would be an understatement to say that for a couple like Jack and Janice to share two years of their life with you so openly and intimately is a privilege.

"There has been a lot of laughter, a few tears and somewhere in-between there was a fishing licence and we buried a dog too. I’m also grateful to Rula for recognising the beauty in the film we’ve crafted, appreciating it as one of the most precious things I’ve created, a moment in time immortalised in film.”

Last year, the soap star was spotted in the picturesque Cumbrian village shooting scenes for her latest film ‘The Kingdom By The Sea’.

Mrs Lenska was joined by her co-star Nicholas Ball, who portrayed the vicious gang lord Terry Bates in EastEnders between 2007 and 2009, as they shot dramatic scenes on Mr Pattinson’s farm.

Produced by Mr Taylor’s production company Hello Princess, the film, which is currently in the final stages of post-production, will be released on Amazon Prime later next year after being submitted to festivals around the world.

A film adaption of Mr Taylor’s children’s book ‘The Loneliest Cow in Kirkby’ has been put on hold due to the death of lead actor Nicholas Ball.

Mr Taylor has been a close friend of Mr Pattinson for over five years and had asked him to lend his voice to one of the characters in the film.
