CUMBRIAN friends won thousands of pounds after appearing on the BBC music quiz ‘The Hit List’.
Best friends Iain and Phillip, from Kendal, won almost £10,000 on the popular show, which aired on Saturday.
Hosted by Marvin and Rochelle Humes, six contestants must name as many hit songs and artists as possible to win the £10,000 prize.
The duo were joined in competing to show off their music knowledge by music-loving couple Sean and Chantelle from Haywards Heath, and mum and daughter Vic and Maureen from Wrexham.
Each of the pairs tries to name the artist and title of hit songs over three different themed rounds before the last duo standing faces ‘The Final Chart Rundown’ for the chance of winning up to £10,000.
After making it to the final round, Iain and Phillip had to identify ten songs and artists under the theme of ‘Award -Winning Songwriters’ with all the answers being acts who had won an Ivor Novello Award.
The pair began with £10,000 in their prize pot, which deducted £100 for every second they didn’t give a correct answer after five seconds.
Iain and Phillip sped through the list, winning £9,462.
Phillip, who is also a presenter on Bay Trust Radio, said his share of the winnings would go towards a holiday to Connecticut in the USA to visit his sister-in-law, while Iain said he would make a donation to local South Lakes’ charity Youth Presence, and book a family holiday to Ibiza.
