A new rowing tour will take place on Windermere this year.
RoWindermere is a new recreational rowing tour created by a group of rowing enthusiasts from the North West.
The tour will take place on the weekend of September 14 and 15.
The event is open to British Rowing members aged 17 and above and will see participants row approximately 20km on Windermere from Fell Foot to Bowness and back.
The tour is being organised by volunteers from British Rowing’s North West Regional Rowing Council in partnership with Windermere Rowing Club and is supported by Love Windemere.
Roger Heise, chair of RoWindermere, said: "RoWindermere sets out to foster a spirit of exploration, teamwork and community while enjoying the beauty of nature from the unique perspective of rowing."
The event will see crews from rowing clubs across the North including John O’Gaunt Rowing Club, City of Sheffield Rowing Club and Tyne United Rowing Club.
Sue Gibson, chair of Windermere Rowing Club, said: "We can’t wait to share our beautiful water and fantastic facilities with rowers from around the UK."
The Love Windermere partnership, which aims to balance the needs of nature, the community and the economy, is backing the event.
Nigel Wilkinson, chair of Love Windermere, said: "We are pleased to support this exciting new event to iconic Windermere and hope to create unforgettable experiences for the local and rowing community."
Windermere Rowing Club will host a chilli and quiz night on September 14 to ensure the crews are fuelled up for their 20km row.
The event will be subject to prevailing weather conditions on the day.
