A batch of new hopeful firefighters have been given a taste of what to expect on the job.
The group of 16 recruits was put through their paces for the first time as they began their journey to becoming firefighters for the Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service.
Over the next three months, the team will be taught a 'multitude of fire service disciplines' and be trained on the drill ground at Penrith Fire Station and Barrow Fire Station.
This will include hose and ladder work, breathing apparatus use, rescue at height, road traffic collision response, water rescue, animal rescue and community safety.
The county's fire service welcomed the new members of their team, and wished them the best of luck ahead of their training.
