THERE will be a free walking tour exploring the history and heritage of Barrow this weekend.
Cumbria Archive Service will lead morning and afternoon sessions on Saturday September 7 as part of the Festival of Built Heritage organised by Westmorland and Furness Council.
There will be other free events taking place at Barrow Town Hall from 10am to 4pm for the festival on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 September.
The Festival of Heritage was first established in 2021 as part of Barrow's High Street Heritage Action Zone.
Councillor Virginia Taylor, from Westmorland and Furness Council, said that aim of The Festival of Heritage 'is to improve local appreciation of heritage and an understanding of correct materials and techniques to use on old buildings.'
Booking will be required for the walking tours. Tickets are available through The Forum Box Office on Duke Street.
For more information on all events and tickets, visit the box office or call 01229 820000.
This is the first year that the festival will be supported through funding from BAE Systems.
