A small, family run coffee shop in Arnside has hit an impressive milestone in their fundraising efforts ahead of the Great North Run.

Last night, Sandpipers Café at Arnside were ‘absolutely delighted’ to announce that they had reached £10,000.

Owned and run by Lee and Lucy Harrison, Sandpipers opened over two years ago in November 2021.

The family are raising money for their chosen charity as they prepare to join in with the Great North Run at the weekend.

Sunday will see 60,000 runners take part in the world’s biggest half marathon, which will be broadcast live on BBC One from 10am.

On September 8, The AJ Bell Great North Run will follow a 13.1-mile route from Newcastle to South Shields.

In a post on their social media page, Sandpipers said: “Just wanted to thank you all on behalf of my family for all your incredible generosity towards our chosen charity as we take part in the Great North Run this Sunday.

“I'm absolutely delighted to announce we've just hit £10,000.”
