A FAMILY-run greengrocers has announced its closure after no longer being able to battle the 'big chains'.
Brocklebank's Of Ulverston will trade for the last time on Thursday, September 5.
Bosses of the business, on 17 Market Street, said it is with a 'heavy heart and great sadness' that the shop is closing.
A spokesperson for the greengrocers said: "We have struggled through the past 18 months trying to compete with supermarkets and the rising cost of goods but unfortunately the time has come to stop fighting. We can no longer battle the big chains that are suffocating the small business like ourselves.
"I would like to take this opportunity to firstly thank all my staff old and new, with you it simply wouldn’t of been possible and secondly all my amazing customers who have supported us you are the reason we turn up to work every morning and make the shop what it is.
"Please come in and see us if your passing this week it’s going to be very emotional but we would love to see you all
"All our love Amy and all the staff."
