A teenager from Barrow has been jailed for over three years following a year-long investigation into drug supply in the area.

Jaydon Morgan, aged 18, was sentenced on August 30 at Preston Crown Court for being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

Morgan, of Manchester Street, was apprehended following an investigation lasting 12 months by South Cumbria’s Community Serious and Organised Crime (CSOC) unit.

A spokesperson from the CSOC unit said: “Tackling the supply of drugs is a priority for Cumbria Police and I hope that the communities in which Morgan was operating can take some comfort in the fact he is now behind bars.

“Many people do not realise that by purchasing cocaine they are directly funding violence and exploitation."

During the investigation, a series of misuse of drugs warrants were executed in the Barrow area at Morgan’s address resulting in him being charged with being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

Evidence recovered by the investigation showed messages on Morgan’s devices which showed they were used in the supply of cocaine within the Barrow area.

He was sentenced to three years and three months in prison.

The spokesperson added: "The message is clear – if you are dealing Class A drugs in our area we will pursue you and bring you to justice.

“Community intelligence is vital, and I would ask anyone who has any information about drugs supply in their area to contact us.”

The police are hoping that Morgan's example can be used to encourage more people to come forward with intel.
