THE boss of a fast food restaurant set to open in town said the business aims to use local suppliers.

MMM Hungry, in Millom, will be offering a range of food options from breakfasts, to smash burgers, fried chicken, wraps and pancakes.

It will also cater for those with dietary requirements, including gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options.

"It is quite an extensive menu because of my background I worked in holiday parks, pubs, and restaurants so there will be something for everyone," said the business owner Gavin Padans.

He explained that the aim of the business is to use local companies as suppliers.

He said: "I am going to be using Southward’s butchers in Askam for all the meats, so it is going to be all fresh meats not bought frozen meat. Everything is going to be made in-house as much as possible and trying to be a fresh takeaway, not your standard everyday takeaway.

"I am going to be getting some pies from Harrys Pantry up in Kendal, so we will be stocking award-winning pies. I am currently in negotiation with a cheesecake company up in Carlisle - they have got award-winning cheesecakes as well."

The restaurant will also have a senior menu where one course costs £5,95, 2 courses cost £6,95 and 3 courses cost £7,95.

"The older generations are struggling money-wise at the minute so I thought it would be nice to give something back to the community," he said.

"I am going to be looking into supporting local charities, local football, rugby and cricket teams."

After some 'hard work' in the past weeks, Gavin explains that he is looking forward to opening the business.

The plan is to open on September 9, but it is not the official date yet. It will offer a sitting area for 24 people.

"There has been a lot of talk about it, there are nearly 100 followers on our Facebook page and we are not even open.

"People have been saying that it will be nice to have somewhere where they can have a coffee in the town and a bite to it as there is nowhere really in Millom where you can do that right now," he concluded.

The St George's Terrace eatery's opening times will be from 8am until 4pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday for the cafe.

The takeaway will be open from 4.30pm until late on Friday and Saturday.
