A celebration of remarkable women in Barrow is coming to the town this September.
The event, titled Reclaiming the Past, will take place in Barrow Town Centre on Saturday, September 21.
It is part of a broader initiative, the BarrowFull Dreams Project, which examines the past, present, and future of the Barrovian people and the diverse communities that contribute to the town's unique culture.
Artist Sarah Hardacre has been researching the stories of these extraordinary Barrovian women for the Past Dreams element of the project.
Her investigations have coursed from the shipyard to the athletics track, and from the mayor's parlour to the kitchen pantry.
In partnership with community-based groups, Ms Hardacre has co-organised an event that acknowledges women from all facets of the community.
At 11.45am, participants are invited to create their own placard, banner or pennant to express their appreciation for the incredible women in their lives.
Attendees are asked to assemble outside Heron Foods on Portland Walk and join the community in a spirited parade.
At 12pm, groups from both ends of Dalton Road will set off, along with participants from Portland Walk.
They will converge by the Spirit of Barrow sculpture, adjacent to McDonalds, where live performances from local artists will take place.
Everyone is welcome at this community celebration.
