Quicker than a personal best, a popular running event in south Cumbria is fast approaching.
The Monument 5k road race will take place on Wednesday, September 11 in Ulverston.
Organised by the Hoad Hill Harriers, the race will start at Glaxo Sports Club on North Lonsdale Road, with the route supported by plenty of cheering marshals to keep those involved hitting their stride.
The organisers describe it as an ideal race to test park run times and for those having completed a 'Couch to 5k' programme to challenge their progress.
With all abilities welcome. pre entries will cost £9 for club affiliated runners and £11 unaffiliated, or runners can enter on the night from 5.30pm for an extra £3.
Last year, 198 competitors toed the line, with Matthew Wall of Levens Valley smashing the course record with a winning time of 15.44.
The race starts at 6.45pm, and there is also a one-mile fun run starting at 6.15pm costing £4.
