EXPERIMENTAL music organisation Full of Noises is marking its 15th birthday with a season of concerts, events and films at its newly redeveloped venue in Barrow

Since 2009 Full of Noises (FON) has championed new music and sound art from its base in Piel View House, a former park-keepers lodge in Barrow Park.

FON’s first concert was in the former canteen building of Barrow’s former shipyard, now a submarine plant.

Since then, it has continued to bring artists to Barrow from around the globe.

In the last 15 years the team have staged over 200 events and worked with 350 artists from across Cumbria, Europe and beyond.

The group have used the redeveloped Piel View House concert venue since last year.

On Saturday 12 October FON will stage a 15th birthday concert with local musicians and guest artists performing throughout the evening.

Glenn Boulter, FON artistic director, said: “Full of Noises started in 2009 with five locally based artists, who all held an interest in music and sound, deciding to stage a festival.

“We had a wish-list of artists we wanted to perform. I think artists found it quite intriguing that an experimental music festival was taking place in somewhere as off-the-radar as Barrow-in-Furness."
