A café in the heart of the Lake District has been put up for sale after four months of trade.
The Botanical Kitchen, a plant-based café nestled in Bowness, is being marketed by Blacks Business Brokers with an asking price of £84,995.
A pub and restaurant in the South Lakes has also joined the market, read more here.
The property on St Martin’s Parade was previously occupied by the Ubuntu Café Bar before Debbie Scott acquired the property in March 2024.
An IT professional and trained chef, Ms Scott also established W R Udderly Nuts, a producer and online supplier of plant-based cheeses and condiments during the lockdown.
Having moved from Berwick-upon-Tweed to the Lake District last year, Ms Scott embarked on a quest to alter common misperceptions about vegan food by establishing a café.

The café underwent a transformation, featuring lush botanical-themed décor, before greeting its first customers on May 1.
With ‘superb’ reviews, a comprehensive website and social media following, Blacks Business Brokers said: “Our client has secured a strong customer base and exceptional reputation.”
The business operates from a property which stretches over two floors. Inside, there is seating for up to 40 people with beautiful décor throughout after a fresh refurbishment earlier this year.

The ground floor includes a serving counter and a fully equipped catering kitchen to the rear. There is also a private office and toilet facilities.
Outside, the business has branding and signage on display, alongside outdoor seating for 12.
Positioned within a parade of shops, it is surrounded by both independent retailers and a handful of larger shops, as well as a number of attractions, public transport links and parking.
Occupying an ‘enviable’ trading position in a ‘busy’ and much sought after area of Bowness, the business has become ‘very well known’ in the area and has a ‘strong’ base of regular customers in place.
The listing mentions that the business is offered for sale due to the current owner’s other business and personal commitments.

Benefitting from a ‘huge’ amount of passing trade due to an ‘excellent’ position in a ‘stunning’ area filled with tourist attractions, the property is ‘ideally’ suited to a hands-on owner-operator.
Blacks Business Brokers said: “This presents an excellent opportunity for a new owner-operator or team to take the business to the next level.”
They said there is plenty of scope to develop the business further by expanding the opening hours from three days a week and offering a broader menu.
With a six-year lease from 2024, the brokers said there is an opportunity to push the business forward and build upon the solid and impressive trading foundations.
